Cretan Labyrinth, Art Omi, 2016

In 2016  I built a temporary, interactive 50 foot Cretan Labyrinth on the lawn of the Art Omi Sculpture Park.  It was created from foraged branches and organic materials collected over a 4 month period from the Hudson Valley region.  The act of foraging and curating the sticks and branches became a catalogue of beautiful fragmented tree parts  and these specimens were used to build the 50′ labyrinth.

The labyrinth path  is a 4 minute walking meditation that dates from the Minoan period, used for divination, centering and pilgrimage.
